Non-deist and theologically inclusive prayers, presented by Anna Minsky and Rabbi Tracy Klirs in honor of the B*Mitzvah of Sidney Guren.

Sidney’s grandmother, Denise Guren, of blessed memory, was a member of her temple’s religious practice leadership team. She was inspired by Marcia Falk and Hanna Tiferet Siegel to use the model of de-gendering prayers to de-deify prayers and create prayer experiences that were inclusive and meaningful for people whose theology and politics are not authoritarian.

We will share alternative Torah-blessing prayers that Anna’s family has written for this morning’s service and discuss our intellectual and emotional connections to prayer language.
