Manhattan Together
SAJ is a member of Manhattan Together. Manhattan Together (“MT”) is a people-based power organization, made up of dues-paying congregations in the borough of Manhattan. MT is broad-based, multiracial, non-partisan, and grassroots. Our purpose is to organize people from our member institutions to engage in public decision-making. This allows them to improve the quality of life in their communities, and strengthen their member institutions.
MT sets audacious goals, creates savvy strategies, and takes on the powerful interests that stand in their way. Political and corporate leaders often don’t embrace change, unless they’re pressured by the people they serve. The leaders in our organization realize that they have the potential to join forces and create change in their neighborhoods and across the country. MT has won important victories in the areas of education, pedestrian safety, public housing, neighborhood safety and many others.
MT is part of the Industrial Areas Foundation, the nation’s first and largest network of multi-faith community organizations—and we have seven decades of experience winning tough battles across the nation.
