How to Be a Good Friend to a Caregiver, presented by Pam Rosenblum

Many of us have friends—or even family members—who are caring for a loved one with a difficult long-term illness. And we often struggle with how to respond in such challenging situations. How can we be truly helpful to the caregiver? What should we say? What support can we offer?

Pamela Rosenblum cared for her husband Paul, who suffered from Lewy body dementia, for seven years. She now facilitates a caregivers’ support group for the Lewy Body Dementia Resource Center. Drawing on her own experience and that of her fellow caregivers both in the dementia world and elsewhere, Pamela will offer some insights into what it’s like to be caring for a person with a chronic difficult illness and what caregivers need from us, their friends.

Note: The film, Facing the Wind, produced by the Lewy Body Dementia Resource Center, will be shown on Thursday, February 13 in the Social Hall.
