Multi-Access Tish: “The Miracle of Religion in Modern Manhattan” with Professor Deborah Dash Moore
January 29, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 9:45 am EST
“The Miracle of Religion in Modern Manhattan” with Professor Deborah Dash Moore
When SAJ was founded a century ago, it entered a crowded religious marketplace. The Upper West Side overflowed with religious choices. Potential congregants could choose from classical religious expressions or various new religious movements, from reformers of different stripes or a mix of ardent and modern traditionalists. This tish sets the scene and looks at SAJ’s contribution to the miracle of religion in modern Manhattan. Deborah Dash Moore is a Frederick G.L. Huetwell Professor of History and Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan and author of Jewish New York: The Remarkable Story of a City and a People. She grew up at SAJ.
This Tish will be Multi-Access, taking place on Zoom and in the SAJ Social Hall.
For the 2021-22 Tish season we expect that most attendees will attend the Tish on Zoom. The presenters will either be on Zoom or be in-person at the SAJ if they are able to make it to the Social Hall. People who will be attending services are welcome to attend the Tish in-person but we will be limiting in-person attendance to 15 people until further notice
(Zoom ID: 964-139-778)
The Tish program is learning facilitated by lay leaders. Click Here for 2021-22 SAJ Tish Calendar .
