Thousands of people who need organ transplants die because of a shortage of organ donations. In this country, many people who wanted to donate are denied the chance. When Marsha Jacobson became Chief Operating Officer of the New England Organ Bank, the region had the nation’s lowest rate of organ donation among eligible patients. Within eighteen months, her team transformed the system, saving more than a thousand lives each year and creating a model for national reform. She will share how the organ donation system works, the myths that hold back progress, promising new technologies, and critical debates shaping the future of organ donation in America.
