“Moral Failings and Moral Imaginations: Coming to Terms with Gaza and the West Bank, Imagining a Better Future for Israel and Israelis ” A Speaking Engagement with Rabbi Jill Jacobs

November 15, 2025 @ 12:50 pm - 2:00 pm EST

Join us for an event with Rabbi Jill Jacobs (she/her),  CEO of T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights. Rabbi Jacobs will help us grapple with the last two years, including the ongoing and underreported settler actions in the West Bank while also help us consider what a better future can look like for Israelis and all who dwell on the land. Rabbi Jacobs is also a prolific teacher on lines between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism and will speak to this current dynamic as well.

T’ruah is an organization that trains and mobilizes more than 2,300 rabbis and cantors and their communities to bring a moral voice to protecting and advancing human rights in North America, Israel, and the occupied Palestinian territories. Rabbi Jacobs is the author of Where Justice Dwells: A Hands-On Guide to Doing Social Justice in Your Jewish Community and There Shall Be No Needy: Pursuing Social Justice through Jewish Law and Tradition, both published by Jewish Lights.

We, at SAJ, believe that our community is made stronger when we can connect with and learn from diverse viewpoints. For the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, our intention through programming and speakers is to present voices that promote reflection, exploration, respectful dialogue, and robust engagement. A speaker’s presence at SAJ does not signal endorsement beyond our belief that the speaker will add value to the conversation and learning.
