SAJ 100 Years Closing Celebration – Volunteer Appreciation Shabbat & Kiddush!

January 28 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm EST

SAJ 100 Years Closing Celebration

Saturday, January 28

On January 29, 2022, SAJ launched its 100 Years Celebration. Even in the midst of a blizzard, it was one of the most joyful and momentous days in SAJ history, with beautiful and uplifting music and inspiring words from Rabbi Lauren, Rabbi Deborah Waxman, elected officials, and interfaith partners.

And what a year it has been! We have explored the thinking and application of Kaplanian thought through speakers and the symposium, learned about SAJ’s history, and celebrated the first bat mitzvah in America alongside celebrities who posted their bat mitzvah photos and with congregations across the country who celebrated Rise Up Shabbat/Bat Mitzvah at 100. We have brought SAJ’s history to life through a physical and online exhibit. We have celebrated the musical life of SAJ, from Cantor Moshe Nathanson to Judith Kaplan to the past and present cantors and to the music we are building today. And we danced and celebrated with joy! One year later, we look back at our accomplishments in this 100th year and look forward as we usher in the next century of SAJ. During our songful and joyful service we will acknowledge the many (!) volunteers who made this year possible. And we will dance another hora as we continue to build a congregation and Judaism that is proudly intellectual and spiritual, critical and joyful, committed to the strengthening of the Jewish people and the entire world.
