SAJ Art Exhibition Series: SAJ Photographers Show Opening

This current edition of the SAJ Art Exhibition Series is a group photography show highlighting the works of photographers and SAJers Paul Perkus, David Rudofsky, Aaron Fineman, and Herb Kaplan (Herb’s work will be presented in memoriam by Leah Kaplan).

Paul Perkus’s piece is titled Icelandic Horses. Paul’s photos will showcase this breed which was developed in Iceland from ponies brought by the original Norse settlers. They are small but highly trainable and can even be taught to dance.

David Rudofsky is always on the lookout for interesting light, scenes and people to photograph on his walks around New York City and travels beyond.

Aaron Fineman worked as a professional photographer from 1996 until his first child was born in 2009. The work he is exhibiting at SAJ is from his documentary series American Creed about high school life in his hometown of Marietta, Georgia (1996–1997). In 2001, Aaron was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News and was part of a team that contributed to The New York Times winning the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service. He also has a photograph in the New York Times Magazine Millennium Time Capsule at the American Museum of Natural History.

Herb Kaplan’s passion is to take photographs, mostly of nature up close, where one can focus on the beauty, sensuality, intimacy, and mystery in nature.”
