Update on Ukraine, a conversation with Rabbinical Student Alisa “Tzipi” Zilbershtein moderated by Marsha Jacobson

May 4, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Alisa “Tzipi” Zilbershtein will update us on the current situation in Ukraine, the Jewish community there, and ways to help.

Deeply engaged in funding and sharing information among those helping evacuees and distributing medications, food, protective equipment, and other necessities, Tzipi previously taught History of Jewish Philosophy at the prestigious National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. She holds an M.A. in Jewish Civilizations from the Hochschule für Jüdische Studien in Heidelberg and is now a senior rabbinical student at JTS, where she’ll receive rabbinic ordination in a few weeks. Given her dedication to serving the Jews of the former Soviet Union and to the revival of Judaism in Eastern Europe, she and her partner, Viktor, intend to return to their home in Ukraine as soon as it is safe to do so.
