Zoom-only Tish: Humor and Politics in Purim presented by Shel Shiffman and Dan Woods
March 5, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 9:45 am EST
Shel Shiffman and Dan Woods will explore the idea of Purim Torah, the tradition of creating silly and outrageous interpretations of Torah, along with Yoram Hazony’s analysis of the political meaning of the book of Esther for Jews. Hazony, an Orthodox author, political commentator, and bible scholar, presents an analysis of Esther that offers a Jewish critique of forms of government as well as providing recommendations about how Jews should seek to participate and influence governments they do not control. Hazony’s book on the topic is entitled, “God and Politics in Esther” .
This Tish will be Zoom only. Attendance in the social hall will be supported via a laptop with the video projected on a screen.
