From “Exodus” to “Fauda”: Israel as a Theme in American Culture, presented by Ted Merwin.
Diplomatic and political relations aside, the perceptions and feelings of American Jews and non-Jews toward Israel have been powerfully conditioned by the representation of Israel in American culture. From travel posters and photographs to films (both documentary and fiction) and TV shows, the image of Israel in our popular entertainment has shaped the relationship between the U.S. and the Jewish State in ways that surprisingly few have analyzed or appreciated.
This week’s Tish will be on Zoom only. A laptop will be set up in the social hall for those who want to listen in from there, but the full AV set up will not be in place.
