Contemplative High Holiday Services
Led by Rabbi Emeritus Michael Strassfeld, Celebrating the High Holidays: Contemplative High Holiday Services offers an inspired way to move into a New Year. Through readings, spiritual teachings, wordless melodies (niggunim), and quiet reflection, we explore our inner life as we consider the themes of these holy days.
The contemplative services take place for one hour and a half on first day Rosh HaShanah, Kol Nidre, and Yom Kippur. Please try to arrive on time as the introduction will be helpful in understanding the thinking behind the service. We will be using a handout for the service, which you are invited to keep if you please. There will be shofar blowing during the Rosh HaShanah service and Yizkor on Yom Kippur.
Services will take place in a new location: St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 225 West 99th Street, NY, NY 10025. Space is limited to 50 in-person registrations. These services will also be online.
