Contemplative High Holiday Services

Led by Rabbi Emeritus Michael Strassfeld, Celebrating the High Holidays: Contemplative High Holiday Services offers an inspired way to move into a New Year. Through readings, spiritual teachings, wordless melodies (niggunim), and quiet reflection, we explore our inner life as we consider the themes of these holy days.

The contemplative services take place for one hour and a half on first day Rosh HaShanah, Kol Nidre, and Yom Kippur.  Please try to arrive on time as the introduction will be helpful in understanding the thinking behind the service. We will be using a handout for the service, which you are invited to keep if you please.  There will be shofar blowing during the Rosh HaShanah service and Yizkor on Yom Kippur. 

Services will take place in person only at two Upper West Side locations:

Monday, September 26— Rosh Hashanah Day 1
10:30AM—12:00PM
In Person only. Held at: Trinity School Chapel. 101 West 91st Street
This location is handicap accessible.

Tuesday, October 4 -Kol Nidre
7:00—8:30PM
In Person only. Held at: Holy Name of Jesus Community Center. 214 West 97th Street. This location has steps to get into the building and into the service space. It does not have a mobility lift.

Wednesday, October 5 -Yom Kippur
10:30AM—12:00PM
In Person only. Held at: Trinity School Chapel. 101 West 91st Street
This location is handicap accessible.
