Non-Liturgical High Holiday Services
Led by Rabbi Emeritus Michael Strassfeld, Celebrating the High Holidays: a Non-Liturgical Spiritual Experience offers an inspired way to move into a New Year. Through readings, spiritual teachings, wordless melodies (niggunim), and quiet reflection, we explore our inner life as we consider the themes of these holy days.
The non-liturgical services take place for one hour and a half on first day Rosh HaShanah, Kol Nidre, and Yom Kippur. Please try to arrive on time as the introduction will be helpful in understanding the thinking behind the service. We will be using a handout for the service, which you are invited to keep if you please. There will be shofar blowing during the Rosh HaShanah service and Yizkor on Yom Kippur. Childcare is provided through the services.
The services are held at West Collegiate Church, 245 West 77th Street (Between Broadway and West End Avenue). The entrance is on the north side, a few doors down from West End Avenue.
This is a donation-based service, though tickets are needed for security reasons.
