Yizkor Service of Memory
Open to the community
Built on the belief that everyone should have a place to remember their loved ones, SAJ opens its doors on Yom Kippur afternoon for a special Yizkor Service of Memory.
During this service, we make space and time for recalling those who have died recently or in years past, whom we hold close to our hearts on these holidays. Alongside liturgy and song, we have designed this as a space for sharing memories of loved ones. Youth groups for children will be offered during this afternoon Yizkor service so our parent community can participate as well. Please note that for those who cannot attend the afternoon, we will offer a short yizkor section in our morning service.
For those joining us for Yom Kippur afternoon only, we encourage you to come before Yizkor to hear our guest teachers and to stay for the closing Mincha and Ne’ilah services. The intensity of the day builds into a beautiful crescendo, punctuated by a final blast of the shofar. We usher in the new year with relief, hope and joy. And all are invited to stay for the BYO Breakfast that follows.
You do not need a ticket to attend the Community Yizkor Service. But we would like to say hello to you — it would be helpful if you can register.
