Dubbs Weinblatt, SAJ Social Justice Manager

Dubbs Weinblatt

Dubbs (they/them) grew up in Columbus, OH, in the 80s and 90s, where access to positive queer/trans Jewish representation was hard to come by. As a kiddo and young adult, this was pretty challenging and isolating. Once they understood that the world was bigger than their little bubble in Ohio, their life started clicking into place. Their move to NYC helped them realize and feel more and more comfortable in their different identities.

In 2015, Dubbs founded Thank You For Coming Out, which started as a queer improv show and quickly grew into a community that centers, uplifts, and explores queer identity in all of its facets. Dubbs and their team began performing all over the country and eventually started teaching improv and storytelling workshops; they went on to host and produce a podcast of the same name (produced by Gay City News), produce community events, and teach Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging trainings/workshops. This was their entry point into doing the type of social justice and equity work that they are so passionate about.

In 2017, Dubbs joined Keshet, a national nonprofit working with Jewish institutions on LGBTQ equality. They joined as a Program Associate and rose up the ranks to become their Associate Director of Education and Training. After five incredibly fulfilling years, they struck out on their own and consulted for 3.5 years. They are VERY excited about rejoining the Jewish nonprofit world and the stellar team at SAJ!

They are a recipient of the GCN Impact Awards, was named one of Logo’s NewNowNext 6 Inspiring LGBTQ Jewish Activists You Should Be Following, was recently named one of Jewish Week’s 36 Under 36, and they are part of the ROI Community. They have also spoken at the Hillels at Princeton, Ohio State, and Northwestern. When Dubbs isn’t working, they love reading, tanning, drinking pop (proof that their Ohioan roots run deep), traveling, and hanging with their niblings.
